Ignore blank lines

Post by thejohno » Thu Sep 15, 2011 2:25 pm

Is there an option to ignore blank lines in DiffMerge? I.e. If I have an extra blank line in my newer version, I don't want DiffMerge to think this is a change.

Thanks.

In the Diff/Merge Tools - Options, click on Rulesets. If you mostly deal with a particular type of file, take a look at the premade rulesets and edit those. If not, then just edit the default ruleset or create a new one.

Once you are in the Edit Ruleset dialog, click on Content Handling and make sure the whitespace is unchecked. Some other areas where you can deal with whitespace is under Equivalence Mode, you can tell it to ignore whitespace. Under Line Handling you also have an option to ignore whitespace, and under the Lines to Omit, you can use a regular expression to omit blank lines.
