Hi Linda
Currently we are still using Vault 3.5.2 with Dragent 1.0.7, and we considering upgarde to lastest Vault Professional V5.1.1. My question is: Can Vault 3.5.2 database be upgrade to Vault 5.1.1 directly? And what about dragent? Is it possible to be imported to Vault professional?
Thanks!

Re: upgrade from Vault 3.5.2 (with dragnet ) to Vault 5.1.1
We recommend upgrading in stages for best results.
If you are planning to upgrade to Vault Pro you can upgrade Dragnet and Vault to Vault Pro.
If you just want to upgrade to Vault Standard 5.1.1, you would not be able to run Vault and Dragnet on the same machine, and there would be no integration.
Also, let me know what operating system you're on now and if you plan to move to a different machine/operating system. Then I can provide specific upgrade instructions.

We plan upgrade to Vault Pro. Server machine is Windows Server 2005/2008. Client OS should support Windows XP SP3 and Win7(both 32bits and 64bits version)
Thanks

Back up your sgvault and sgdragnet databases.
On the Windows 2005 server machine:
Run the Vault 3.5.3 installer to upgrade the database to the latest 3.5.x version.
Next, uninstall Vault and uninstall Dragnet, keeping the databases when prompted.
Run the installer for Fortress 1.0.6. The installer will upgrade both the sgvault and sgmaster databases and add an sgmaster database. Sgmaster contains user information for a single login to version control and item tracking.
Then upgrade Fortress in stages: Fortress 1.14, then 2.04.
Next, uninstall Fortress and install VaultPro 5.1.1.

Hi Linda
I've made a mistake in my second post, our server machine are Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Server 2008. There's no Windows Server 2005 But I think that won't affect your answers.
Thanks for your instructions. Any questions I'll let you know.

Yes, the answer is the same (I should have caught that!). The point is that Vault 3.5.x and Fortress 1.x are not supported on Windows 2008, so you want to do your upgrades on the Windows 2003 machine before moving to Windows 2008.
