Web browser interface is slow

Post by George Mills » Sun Aug 29, 2004 7:24 pm

I'm running on an XP Box Dual Xeon 2.8 with Raid 5.

I'm using MSDE2000 for the moment

The desk top clients are running fine.

The project is very small. I have branched it a couple times for testing.

I think it was running fine and now it's slow.

Every click traversing the tree takes like 10 seconds to display the form.

Note that I may have updated the client or the server or both with XP SP2 since it ran fast. I did not correlate it but everything indeed is now SP2.

There isn't much experience yet with Vault on SP2. We'll need to do a little research here. Offhand I can't think of any obvious reason SP2 would slow Vault down, but that's the only thing that changed since the slowdown started, then SP2 looks guilty.

No, that was not the only thing that changed. I just noted it that it was changed. I did branching and the tree grew.

Ah, that's a better angle to pursue.

The tree grew? How much? How many files/folders are in it now?

Still, if the slower perf of the web client were due to tree size, I would remain curious why the regular GUI client is unaffected.
