restoring a backup

Post by GrahamLabdon » Thu Mar 24, 2011 11:01 am

Hi
I have a number of respositories that were created using Fortress.
We have now purchased VaultPro and installed the VaultPro server on a new machine.
I made a backup of the old repositories via the admin tool and have copied them to the new machine (in the same location).
When I open the admin tool on the new machine I cannot see the backup

How can I get my old repositories into the new database

Thanks

When moving Vault you will want to put the database in place first and then perform the Vault install. Take a SQL backup of the sgvault, sgmaster, and sgdragnet databases from the original location, restore them to the new SQL server, then install Vault. You will find that using SQL Server Management Studio is better suited for moving Vault. Our backup/restore is only intended for an in-place restore.

Here is a KB article on moving Vault to a new machine: http://support.sourcegear.com/viewtopic.php?t=228.
