Hi,
I was wondering whether the following scenario was possible and how to go about it:
We have Vault with all our projects. The database is located on an external server as well as the web service.
We're quite interested by Fortress, but would like to try it out and demonstrate to my colleagues to see if we should switch. Can we set up Fortress client to work with our existing database as a trial?
If not, is it possible to use both Fortress and Vault on the same machine albeit connecting to two different databases.

Re: Using Fortress and Vault on the same machine
The server portion of Fortress or Vault would need to be installed on that external server that runs IIS and it can use the database there. Then you would install the client to connect to the server.
If you don't want to install the server, you can install the client and connect to our demo server.

Your other option for testing would be to use a client machine, install either SQL Server or SQL Express and IIS, and then install either Vault or Fortress. You can use Windows XP, Vista, or 7 in the same way as a server, as long as you aren't using a home edition of the OS. It might not give you the same level of performance that a server can, but it can still do the job.
