Upgrading from Vault 3.5 to Latest Version of Fortress

Upgrading from Vault 3.5 to Latest Version of Fortress
We are preparing to upgrade from Vault 3.5 to Fortress and I would like to know if there are more steps involved other than just running the install of Fortress? I know that in the past, we had to install all the previous versions if we were more than a couple versions off.
Re: Upgrading from Vault 3.5 to Latest Version of Fortress
That is still the case. I would recommend going to 4.0.6, then uninstalling Vault, then installing Fortress 1.1.4. If you have the client installed, then you will want to read the release notes first about a known issue: Fortress 1.1.4 release notes.

Re: Upgrading from Vault 3.5 to Latest Version of Fortress
Thanks Beth. To make sure I understand, run the vault 4.0.6 upgrade for Vault. Then, uninstall the Vault W/S (I'm assuming that it will prompt you to keep the db like previous installs). And then install 1.1.4 of Fortress (so I assume that I won't need to install any previous versions of Fortress, I can install 1.1.4 as my only Fortress install).
Is that correct or do I need to run all the installs for Vault up to 4.0.6 and from there, install all the Fortress upgrades up to 1.1.4?
We are creating a test site to do a dry run with our VM instances that should be done this week. Can I change the server name in the Vault config file once we make the copy of the db and site without having to do anything else?

Your first assumption is correct.

Hi Beth,
Going through this dry run, will I need to convert my licenses from 3.5 to 4.0, to Fortress? If so, will that effect our production Vault server?
Thanks,
Richard

You will need different licenses for the final version you end on. You don't need that during the upgrade, but when you're finished, that will allow other users back in. If you need assistance with licensing, send an email to sgstore at sourcegear.com.

Re: Upgrading from Vault 3.5 to Latest Version of Fortress
Sorry, I'm just now getting back to this. I've cloned the existing Vault db to do a dry run. I've installed 4.0.6 on our test server and everything seems to go through fine. However, when I try to login through the web admin interface and use the password that I typed in, it keeps telling me that the username or password supplied is invalid. How can I confirm the admin password?
Re: Upgrading from Vault 3.5 to Latest Version of Fortress
If you are going to go to Fortress 2.0.1, now that it's released, you can skip the steps of Vault 4.0.6 and Vault 4.1.4.
From where you are at now, just uninstall Vault and then install Fortress. During the Fortress install, it will have you set the admin password again.

So I can go straight from 3.5 to Fortress 2.0.1 then?
