Visual Studio Enhanced client in mixed environment

We have some developers who use Visual Studio 2005 and others that use Visual SlickEdit to edit source code. The SlickEdit users have configured an SCC provider for revision control, though they're equally happy to use an external Vault Client instead. Right now we are using the Visual Studio Classic client.

I'm investigating the possibility of migrating to the Visual Studio Enhanced Client. This should work fine for our Visual Studio 2005 users but I'm concerned about the Slickedit (or other editor) users. Is there a stand alone Vault Client that the Slickedit users can use? Can the SlickEdit users use the SCC interface while the Visual Studio users use the Enhanced Client?

When you install the Vault Client, it also installs the necessary components for Visual Studio integration, both Classic and Enhanced. So there 's no problem with SlickEdit users using the standalone Vault Client and Visual Studio users using the Enhanced Client. The caveat is that developers working on the same Visual Studio project should use the same integration client, as project bindings are written into the project file.

Sounds like we will be fine with:

Visual Studio users **ALL** using Enhanced Client Integration
Slickedit (or other text editor) users using SCC integration or Stand Alone Client
Tech Pubs, Managers, etc can using the standalone client (to fetch documents)

Yes.

We don't support integration with SlickEdit, but some users have gotten it to work since Vault supports MSSCCI (Classic Client) integration.
