Where does SourceOffSite Server Manager store Database info?

Post by GrandPixel » Thu Jul 16, 2009 9:51 am

I'm looking at the Databases tab in SourceOffSite Server Manager (4.2). Where is this "srcsafe.ini Location" and "Database Alias" information stored?

SourceOffSite is software that helps you connect to a VSS database over the Internet. It has no database of it's own. The path to the scrsafe.ini file would be the path to your VSS database location. Each VSS database has a scrsafe.ini file.

Where does it store the association between the .ini and the Alias?

To see the srcsafe.ini locations and the aliases, open the SOS Server Manager in the SourceOffSite Server directory and choose the Databases tab.

I know, but where on the hard drive are these associations stored. I want to be able to modify them via a script.

They are in a file called sossvr.prp in the SOS Server directory. It is *very* easy to corrupt this file by modifying it -- be sure to have a backup!

One more question concerning this... I need to be able to add an alias and access it with a sourceoffsite client without shutting down and restarting the sourceoffiste server. Is there a way to do this?

No. The SOS Server service needs to be restarted because that's when it reads the properties file.
