Re: Operation failed
What were you trying to do when you received that message?
Did any errors show up in your SOS server log? That would be found at C:\Program Files\SourceOffSite 4 Server\log.txt.

Re: Operation failed
Hi
In SoS log.txt file I found this:
3/20/2009 1:44:14 PM - 1538: You do not have access rights to $/CEEDS Core App/CEEDS 4.3/Web Projects/ceeds/WEB-INF (8004d749)
This user has Read/Write rights for this which can be seen in VSS.

Re: Operation failed
Is anyone else able to get that file?
Could you or that user log into a VSS client with that user's login name and get the file?

Re: Operation failed
I advised the user to use user name guest and the result was the same - operation failed. Then I advised him to log in as Admin and gave him the admin password. Now the user was able to perform operation successfully.

Re: Operation failed
Could you restart the SOS service on the server and have the user try again?
If that didn't fix the issue, then could you send an email to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth) with a link to this forum thread? Include in that email a screenshot from your VSS admin tool showing the person's permissions.

Re: Operation failed
Attn: Beth
I have restarted the SOS on the server but the user is able to perform only when using Admin as user ID.
Attached is the requested screen shot from VSS. This user is highlighted.

If you haven't sent an email off yet, could you tell me the exact Automation Component Version that is being used?

Re: Operation failed
Your automation component could be causing the problem. There's two others automation component versions you should try. The version that I think you will have the best luck with in this case is 6.0.98.48. That one I think comes with service pack 6 of VS 6. There's a sp6 just for VSS that might have it also.
If you are having problems getting that version, you could try 6.0.98.40. We have that automation component posted here. Instructions for installing this one can be found inside of the zip file. Make sure you backup the directory where you are placing the new files before you extract them.
Also, to prevent any other issue showing up, return to the registry setting where you found the path to your ssapi.dll. Just below it is an entry for the threading model. Make sure that is set to Both and not Apartment.
After you have a new component in place and the threading model set, restart the SOS service and see what results you have.
