Password error when upgrading from 3.5.3 to 4.x
Here is the scenario:
I have a copy of production unloaded to a non-prod instance. And install the current version (3.5.3) with no problems. I used the current Admin credentials. I test everything and we are good to go. I do an iisreset and then start the 4.1.4 (and tried 4.0.6) and things go fine until I get prompted for the Admin credentials. I type them in as before and get this error: After a few attempts, I cancel. Now remember, this is the same credentials I justed used to install 3.5.3 and the one I am logged onto the actual server itself. Nothing in the sgvault.log indicating an error.
I even disabled virus scan. Anything else I need to look at or do? At this point, I can install 3.5.3 with no problems
Please advise.
Thanks, Tom

Re: Password error when upgrading from 3.5.3 to 4.x
The logs to look at will be your Vault Server Log and the vault_install.log found at %username%/localsettings/temp. In the Vault server log, do you see any errors? Please post that.
One thing you could do is uninstall Vault 3.5.3 and then install 4.1.4. When you uninstall, you will choose the option to keep the database. Then when you install Vault 4.1.4, it will ask you if you want to use the same database and you'll say 'yes.' The admin password then will be a setting of the admin password instead of checking to see if it matches.

Here are the 2 logs as requested.
Thanks, Tom
In the meantime, I will try your last suggestion of uninstalling 3.5.3 first (keeping the db) and then installing 4.1.4 and will post my results. Thanks, Tom

Update. I did get farther....but. I got another error. I've attached the log for your review.
Thanks, TomRe: Password error when upgrading from 3.5.3 to 4.x
I'm going to add in a few steps here and have you try again.
1) Get rid of the current Vault databases, sgmaster and sgvault, that had the upgrade fail on them. You can either delete them, or just detach them and move them elsewhere.
2) Restore the Vault 3.5.3 database.
3) Install Vault 4.0.6. Don't install the client, only the server.
4) Uninstall Vault 4.0.6 using the instructions posted here: How to uninstall Vault 4.0.6 Server
5) Install 4.1.4.
Then let me know your results.

That worked! Thanks a million! Hopefully my real production upgrade will be uneventful, but at least now I am better prepared
