I recently used the MacOS 'Repair Permissions' feature and now I get an error when I open a diff between 2 files.
"Failed to create a temporary file name (error 13)"
I think the error is coming from MacOS (can't find it in the executable) but I am hoping someone can help me understand it better.
My permissions on /var/tmp and /private/tmp (=/tmp) seem fine. I'm not getting errors from other software. I tried replacing DiffMerge.app with a fresh download to no effect.
Where are temporary files stored on Mac?

Re: Where are temporary files stored on Mac?
Look in the directory that contains the file in the editable panel.
The temp file is created in that directory along side the file being
edited.
Let me know if you have any other questions,
jeff

I think that's it - I think somehow repair permissions must have removed my admin user's write access to the directory. Weird.
Thanks Jeff, now I understand I'm sure it'll be an easy fix.
