Upgrade from vault 3.5.1 to 4.1.4

Post by mrmikolyski » Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:18 pm

I am going to Upgrade from vault 3.5.1 to 4.1.4. Will this work, is there a special process I should follow? I plan to run the vault server install without manually un-installing the old 3.5.1 server. Is that the best way to go? Anything I should do to prevent problems?
Thanks,
Matt

Is there a hypen in the server name?

Can you login from the Vault server machine itself using "localhost" for the servername?

Yes there are hyphens in the server name. I don't know if I can do that, I don't have the client installed on the server. I will install it and try it if you think its important.

Thanks,
Matt

Sorry, I seem to have been providing an answer here that went with a different forum posting.

Regarding upgrading: Yes, you should be able to upgrade directly from Vault 3.5.1 to 4.1.4. Be sure to backup your sgvault database first. Vault 4.x will upgrade the 3.5.x database and add an sgmaster database as well. You can run the installer over the existing 3.5.1 installation.

If you do run into problems, then restore the original 3.5.1 database and upgrade in stages. I'd suggest 3.5.3, then 4.0.6, then 4.1.4.
