Fortress on Vista - no style sheet/help

Post by grahamp » Sat Sep 15, 2007 6:20 am

I've installed Fortress on Vista Ultimate. It seems to be working, but the web client has no style - it seems as though it isn't loading the stylesheet. Also, clicking on "Help" gives a blank page. I've checked security looks OK on the subfolders (NETWORK SERVICE has read/write permissions) and gone through all of the IIS settings I can see that might be relevant, but to no effect. I've tried IIS logging, which seems to show the requests for these files with a 200 status code, so they should be served ok but aren't. Any ideas?

We've never seen anything like this, so I'll have to ask lots of general questions.

1. Does it work if you hit the web site from a different computer?
2. Are the directories actually there on disk? There should be a Fortress/Style/Fortress.css file.

Thanks for your response. In answer to your questions:

1. No, I get the same behaviour when accessing from a separate PC.
2. Yes, C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Fortress\Style\Fortress.css exists, as do the help files I'm trying to access. I can open it in a text editor and it looks OK.

Thanks

Graham

Graham contacted me, and we discovered that his problem was similar to the one reported at:

http://blogs.iis.net/forums/p/1143592/1 ... px#1845956

The solution was to enable the StaticFile IIS 7 module, and then uninstall and reinstall Fortress.

I am having the same problem on a Windows Server 2003 machine with IIS 6, I have looked for the above solution but can't find it in IIS 6

The closest I've found is editing the MIME types that IIS will serve. Look at:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodte ... x?mfr=true

If you try to go to

http://SERVER/VaultService/Style/Fortress.css

do you get an error message? Do you see anything?

I am having a similar problem to brentbones, windows server 2003 and iis 6. The /vaultservice site displays the style sheet fine, the /fortress site does not. This means the source control and admin pages are styled but the item tracking pages are not.

I have had a look on the server and cannot see any differences that would make this occur. The .css file exists for the Fortress site and is accessible from
http://SERVER/VaultService/Style/Fortress.css (default program opens the file).

Any ideas?

I have just fixed the same problem on Win 2003.

Try navigating to http://SERVER/Fortress/Style/Fortress.css NOTE Fortress not VaultService as above.
If this fails with an unauthorised error, navigate in Windows Explorer to the Fortress folder.
Mine was missing the IUSR and IWAM accounts that the VaultService folder had.
Add these two accounts and configure them as for the VaultService folder and it should work fine.
Hope it helps. :D
