Access Fortress repository with Vault client ?

I have set up a single user Fortress (1.1.4) repository in my home LAN for personal development; Our office currently only uses Vault (4.1.2). I have the vault client for accessing the office repository (version 4.1.2). Attempts to use this vault client to access the new Fortress home respository have met with resistance with the message "The server uses a protocol that is not supported by this client."

Do I have to use the fortress client as well as the vault client, and if so is there a means to 'integrate' both within visual studio?

Can I safely use the fortress client to access the Office Vault server?

Or should I simply remove Fortress and reinstall a Vault server to keep everything homogeneous?

(I put Fortress in thinking I could test it out at home without impacting the office server, but I still need access to the vault server in the office).

Vault and Fortress are not interchangeable. You have to use a Vault client to connect to a Vault server and a Fortress client to a Fortress server.

Even though it's not supported I have had a couple of users manage to install a Vault client and a Fortress client on the same machine, but it takes a bit of finagling and I can't guarantee success. If you want, send an email to support at sourcegear.com and I can tell you what I've seen a few users do and you can try it out.

Thanks for the reply. I have decided it is easier to stick with one platform. I removed Fortress and installed the vault server, and updated the office so everyone agrees as to what version they are using.
