Uninstalling breaks IE

Uninstalling breaks IE
I installed the SourceGear Vault Client after reading "Coder To Developer" by Mike Gunderlay (great book by the way) and once I had finished decided to uninstall the client.
Well, Internet Explorer is now unable to "open a link in a new window", it opens a window and just sits there not able to redraw it. Press ESC and the URL appears and you can press F5 and it displays the page.
So I went back with System Restore to before I uninstalled and IE was working perfectly, so as a test I did it again. Uninstalled Vault, IE doesnt work, go back in System Restore and IE works again.
So this begs two questions:
* Why? and what else is vault doing??
* How on earth do i uninstall vault?

I too have had this problem, on two computers, though I didn't connect it with uninstalling the Vault client until now.
This is how I fixed it:
I fixed the problem.

Run the following commands from start/run. Run each line individually. After each run, you should see a short message stating the command was successful. The first command is the one most likely to work.
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
It started working again after I re-registered actxprxy.dll

I'm curious, what did this book have to do with you deciding to uninstall the vault client?danpetitt wrote:I installed the SourceGear Vault Client after reading "Coder To Developer" by Mike Gunderlay (great book by the way) and once I had finished decided to uninstall the client.
You already found the solution, but for the sake of completeness, see the following link for previous mention of this issue:

Thanks, doesnt explain why Vault does this though. I am and was completely patched and secured up prior to installing and uninstalling Vault.
But thanks for the speedy responses ... I do like Vault and would like our company to adopt it ... its just that we are little and dont have a lot of dosh, oh well!
