Odd Problem with Vault/DreamWeaver on Vista x64

Post by Hambone » Thu Oct 30, 2008 11:44 pm

Hi everyone! To start with, here's what I'm using:
Vault Client 3.1.9.3798
DreamWeaver 9.0.3481
Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP1 on HP Pavilion dv7-1130us Laptop (AMD Turion X2, 4GB RAM, 163GB free of 222GB total)

Now, the issue:
I can run the Vault client with no problems - it connects fine, transfers fine, all functionality I need works as expected. I set up the DW integration as per instructions found elsewhere on the board, and as expected, Vault becomes a remote server option in DW. So far so good... However, absolutely nothing happens when I click the Settings button to configure the client through DW. The button behaves as if it's being/been clicked (i.e. it "depresses" while it's being clicked on), but the dialog never displays and no errors are thrown.

I uninstalled/reinstalled both Vault and DreamWeaver, ensuring that all registry entries and files were removed, but that didn't help. Thinking that maybe it was a config error, I went through another Vista machine I have that's working properly (Vista Business 32-bit SP1 on a P4 with 1GB RAM) and cloned all settings and registry entries in both Vault and DW. Still no joy.

Is it just a simple issue of this version of Vault_DWIDE.dll not being compatible with x64 Vista? I also tried using a newer version of the Vault client, but the server is also 3.1.9.3798 and that's the only version of the client that will even connect to it (higher versions complain about unsupported protocols). The only thing I haven't tried is to use the Vault_DWIDE.dll from a newer client with the 3.1.9 client. Would this work?

Any suggestions on next steps for troubleshooting? Many thanks in advance!

That could be the case here. Vault 3.1.9 was not supported on 64-bit machines.

Also here were problems with using Vault 3.1.9 and DreamWeaver CS3. See the forum post: Dreamweaver CS3 bug.

So then if 3.1.9 is not supported on 64-bit platforms, how do I go about configuring a more recent version of the client to connect to a 3.1.9 server?

Only some versions could be mixed and matched. For example, a 3.1.9 client will connect to any Vault server that is version 3.1.0 to 3.1.9. All the 3.5 versions connect to each other in the 3.5 group and so on. There isn't a way to make a 3.5 or higher version of Vault connect to a 3.1.9 server and vice versa.

You might want to contact our sales department to find out what it would take for you to upgrade to a version that supports a 64-bit machine.
