Failure during branching

Hi, I am getting the following errors while trying to create a branch:

... An error occurred while retrieving the root folder's branch information. The folder could not be branched.
----10/10/2008 3:30:07 PM System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

What is this all about ? can somebody help?

We'd like to see a copy of the Vault server log -- it's sgvault.log in Windows\Temp\sgvault.
