New users can't log in

Hello,

My group uses SourceOffSite to manage some files and it's been working fine for some time now, but recently we just ran into an issue where new users I'm adding are not able to access the files. We have 15 licenses and there are only 9 or so users currently using those licenses (there were more in the past, but I've removed the users as they are no longer using the system). The new users also have accounts in SourceSafe. When they try to log into SourceOffSite though, it says "Server Closed Connection". The log.txt file says:

8/5/2008 9:53:15 AM - 8/5/2008 9:53:15 AM - Server Exception (411): UNAUTHORIZED_USER

8/5/2008 9:53:15 AM - 368: Login Server Error - 411
8/5/2008 9:59:15 AM - Connection accepted from (IP address) on local address (IP address), session id is 369.
8/5/2008 9:59:16 AM - 8/5/2008 9:59:16 AM - Server Exception (411): UNAUTHORIZED_USER
8/5/2008 9:59:16 AM - 369: Exception during Login: UNAUTHORIZED_USER
8/5/2008 9:59:16 AM - 369: Login Server Error - 411

Is there a way that SourceOffSite still thinks the licenses are being used, even though I've removed users from the SourceOffSite Server Manager "Users" tab? I'm using SOS version 4.2 by the way.

Are all the licenses 4.X licenses?

You could try deleting all the users in the users tab of the Server Manager. Then restart the SourceOffSite server. See if users can login. They don't need to be in the users tab of the SourceOffSite server manager- the server manager automatically adds users when they successfully login to VSS through SOS.

Let us know if you're still having difficulty after this.

Thanks for the help, I figured out the issue. I had updated the users tab on the Server Manager, but I never actually restarted the Source Off Site service. After restarting this service, it appears to be working fine.

Yes, you have to restart the SOS server after making changes to the SOS Server Manager. Sorry I didn't mention that.
