my VSS database name is Caméléon (look at the 'é' char)
there is an error when the server start and in the logfile there is a line like that : unable to open database 'Camlon'

It's possible that the account used by the SOS Server Service does not have access to the database. In SOS 4.0 the error is "<database path> does not exist."
