How to get tree for a specific date/time

Post by dazzac » Mon Jul 07, 2008 7:32 pm

I want to do a quick build for a specific date/time in the past. After I have done a quick test with that build I will then do a Get Latest Version to revert back to the latest versions of the folders and files. i.e. this is just a temporary change not a "real" branch.

What is the quickest way to do this? I am essentially looking for a quick way to do a recursive "Get Latest Version as of [date/time]" for the top level folder of the project.

Right-click on the top level folder and select Show History, then in the History Explorer, choose Show Folder History by Version. This will give you folder versions and dates. Select the date you want, and choose Get Tree.

That is what I thought should work, but it didn't show me the expected results when I set a date range in the past...

Our repository was imported from Source Safe (which was accessed using Source Off Site). What I have found is that there are very few "folder versions" for changes made prior to using Vault. All check ins made using Vault do have correct folder versions.

Is this a known issue?

Yes, it would be an issue. The way we must import history from VSS isn't the same as history created by the Vault Client.
