4.0.2 client crashes with secure connection only

Post by Guest » Fri Jun 11, 2004 6:24 pm

Hi,
I'm currently in the process of setting up a test server here with the demo install of SOS 4.0.2 client and server. I'm able to connect and do various things with non-secure mode.
With the secure port though, the client would connect and retriave the project file list, but when I click on any directory with a file in it it would crash with the XP application error (last message before crashing is "Updating File List").
Any idea what may be causing this?
Thanks.

Is there any relevant information in the SOS Server log? It's called log.txt and is in the SOS Server directory. Send me a copy the log or post it here.

So you can connect successfully and perform operations on a non-secure port but when you connect securely, the client crashes as it tries to download the first file list? Is that correct?

Is this a new problem? Were you able to work over the secure port before or has it never worked since you installed the product?

Does the crash occur for all users or just you?

Before I worked with SOS 3.5.2 using secure access.
The error occured after upgrading to SOS 4.02.
I'm th only one using the new version at the moment, because I have to test reliability and funtionality.

Best regards

Have you tried going back and using the non-secure port again after the client crashed? Does the non-secure port still work?

Was the 4.0 server installed on the same machine as the 3.5 server?

Do you have compression turned off or on in the client? (General tab of the Options dialog) If its off, try turning it on and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Corey, when compression is turned on, the secure prot works.

We've reproduced this crash in-house. When you use the secure port wtih compression off, the client crashes.

We'll fix this in our next release. In the meantime, use compression if you are connecting to the secure port.
