Vault 4.1 - Freezing when Adding Files

Post by beavens » Fri Jun 13, 2008 9:35 am

Hello,

I've got a user with Vault 4.1 that completely freezes when he tries to add a file. He's able to add files without any problems logged in as himself on other computers with Vault installed.

I've reinstalled the program with no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Does it fail on any other tasks? For example, could he check out a file, make an edit to it, and then check it back in?

Is he trying to perform the add with just the Vault client or from withing Visual Studio?

Could you have him start up Client Side Logging, then try the action again? Then post either the log or any errors.

So far all other tasks seem to be working fine. I had him check out a file, make a change, and check it back in without any issues whatsoever.

He's using the standalone Client.

I'll enable Client Logging and see what turns up.

Thanks!

Use Case - Policy Level Coverage.doc is the file he's adding?

When he either clicks the "Add Files" button or right clicks and selects "Add Files" the program freezes.

He doesn't even get a chance to select the file.

Can you check your Event Viewer on that client machine to see if any errors are logged there?

There arent any errors that occur around the time that Vault freezes, and any other errors aren't related to the issue hand.

Are you looking for something in particular?

The user had mapped a drive letter to a very large network drive. The add dialog was taking a long time while trying to add the first-level children of this drive. Unmapping the network drive corrected the problem.
