Problems Installing Vault Demo

I'm trying to install Vault Server, and am not having much luck. Since this is just a demo, I'm installing it on a PC running Windows XP Pro (not a server). In fact, I've tried installing it on two different PCs, and have gotten two different errors.

On one PC, installation stops with the message "The user, <machinename>\ASPNET, could not be added as a SQL Server login." I've verified that this user does indeed exist on this PC. I've read messages in this forum that mention this error and tried the suggestions they provide, with no change.

On the other PC, installation seems to succeed, but when I try to run Admin Web Client, I get "XML Parsing Error: not well-formed." Again I've read the forum messages addressing this, but have found nothing that helps.

I'm not exactly new to computers (I've been doing this stuff for a living for 30 years), but I have been known to overlook the obvious on occasion. What am I missing here? How can I get a successful Vault server installation?

Could you send a copy of the Vault _install.log log file to me at support at sourcegear.com Attn: Linda? It's in your user's temp directory.

Send it for both of the machines, if you wish.
