Each time I try to check in, I get the following message.
An item with the same name or object id already exists in the selected folder.
It happens with any file. I have used vault for years and have never seen this.
Please help.

The first thing I'd suggest is clearning your client-side cache file. There may be information out of sync with the server.

Close any open clients (GUI, Visual Studio) first. After you've cleared the cache, you may also want to restart IIS (use iisreset command from the command line) to clear the server cache before you open your clients again.
Let us know if this doesn't resolve the problem.
