Vault 4.1 invalid protocol

Post by PeterHaislund » Fri May 16, 2008 2:24 am

Hi,

I just upgraded my Vault server to version 4.1.1.18060.

I have a machine with Visual Studio 2008 installed and I installed the Vault client.
when I try to open a solution from vault in VS it displays a messagebox saying: "The server uses a protocol that is not supported by this client".

What is wrong? Tried both the classic and enchanced integration.

I have updated the server like this:

Before upgrade:
Vault server installed on ServerA in default web site
SQL (2000) installed on ServerA

After upgrade:
Vault server installed on ServerB in a new website I created
SQL (2005) installed on ServerC (restored sgmaster and sgvault to this new server)

I upgraded from version 4.0.??

Can you help me please,

Peter haislund

This message indicates there is a mismatch between client and server. Vault 4.0 clients cannot connect to Vault 4.1.1 servers.

It's possible the client files did not get updated properly. I'd suggest uninstalling the Vault Client and reinstalling, making sure after the uninstall that the Vault Client directory is empty before reinstalling.

Okay, thanks...
It works now!

The problem was that I did it like this:

In VS I choose Open from source control and connected to my new server.
Then I set the working folder to the same as always, but these files seemed to have info abt the old server. Then it failed...

Strange, but work again.

It may have been binding information that was out of date, but it's hard to say. Glad things are working now. Let us know if you encounter problems in the future
