keeping switch back to 2003 compatible client unexpectedly

Post by yamao » Thu Apr 17, 2008 6:34 am

The VS 2005 project uses VS 2005 client, but sometimes it automatically switch to 2003 compatible client when opening the project. Is any thing I can do to prevent that?

VS 2005
Vault 4.05.15922
Vista Sp1

Thanks in advance for your help!

Try unbinding and rebinding the project.

Also, I'd suggest upgrading client and server to Vault 4.1.1. It's a free upgrade for you, and we've fixed a lot of bugs since 4.0.5.

First, I recommend upgrading to the latest version: 4.1.1. It's a free upgrade from 4.0.x.

Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 will automatically switch providers (and the setting in Tools|Options|Source Control will change) when you open a solution or project bound with that provider. I'd guess that you're opening a solution/project that's bound with the 2003 client.

EDIT: Linda beat me to it. But we gave the same answers! :)

I tried unbinding & rebinding, resetting repository cache so many times before in vain. I am going to take your guys’ suggestion: upgrading to the latest version: 4.1.1. Hopefully it will solve my other troubles too.

Thanks a lot!
