VSS Label Comment Import

Hi, I've been having some good successes importing projects from VSS6 into the Vault demo. The support for label imports is fantastic, as I have a lot of release version labels in VSS.

But I've noticed that only the label is imported, not the label comment. I had been storing change log information in the VSS label comment, so it would be really beneficial to retain this.

Is there a way that I can import label comments along with the labels, or perhaps update them afterwards with another tool?

I don't think I've managed to ask an unanswerable ignorable question, but please let me know if I have!

It's possible the VSS import doesn't import label comments. We'll try to reproduce that here.

Once the label is imported into Vault, you can right-click on a project and select Show Labels. Then in the Show Labels window, you can right click on a label and select Edit Comments to add comments.

Apparently the comments for labels problem has not been fixed (yet); I've done extensive successful imports from VSS but all the label comments are still lost.

We have bug 6738 logged for this in our bug tracking database. It will be evaluated for an upcoming release of Vault. One thing we need to investigate is whether this functionality is available through the SourceSafe Automation Component, which is what Vault uses to communicate with the VSS database.
