One repository is slow to connect to?

Post by Stuart » Mon Jun 07, 2004 4:49 pm

We are having a problem where one of our repositories is very slow to connect to. If you try to connect through the Vault Client, it takes about 30 seconds to come up. Repository operations (check-in/out) are fine, it's just for the initial repository view to come up. The same thing happens when we try to load a project through the IDE and it connects to get the source control status. This only started happening recently.

The other repositories don't exhibit this problem. Any ideas what could be causing it? There's only a few checkouts in this repository.

Thanks.

Two quick questions:

1) What version of Vault are you using?
2) Does this repository have over 1500 - 2000 shared items?

We're using 2.0.3 and that repository has no shared files.

OK. That narrows things down a bit.

Can you try this test.

1) Login to Vault with the GUI client, and use the slow repository.
2) Now shutdown Vault.
3) Re start the Vault client, connecting to the slow repository. Is it as slow as the first attempt? Or does it only take a second or two?

A quick clarification -

2) Now shutdown the Vault GUI client. (Leave the Vault server running)

The problem actually went away before I could test what you suggested. I have no idea what caused the problem to stop?! Thanks though!
