problem with undo checkout

i have a project where one user checked out 2 files to his workstation. he than continued to reformat that workstation. obviously, the files are still checked out.

how do i "undo" this checkout. i don't seem to find a way to do this.

.. i just found the admin "undo checkout" on the admin website.
