Couple Requests: Customization/Options

Post by spintz » Thu Apr 03, 2008 9:16 am

  • Ability to set the hotkeys for Next/Previous change, I don't like Alt-Down/Alt-Up, would like to be able to set single keys to do this.
  • Ability to select a non-recursive folder diff. Right now, it's rather a pain, as it performs a recursive check, and then the results are alphabetized, not in any kind of tree or parent/child view. So hard to find files only in the current directory (have to pay attention to files with no paths.
  • Ability to exclude files/folders in folder diff. For instance, I have code in .svn, and it's wasting it's time looking at the .svn folders/files.
That's all for now, aside from those, this is the best diff/merge tool I've used. I've uninstalled my old one and am now using this one! Great tool!

Another request....

You need to upgrade these forums. I hate getting emails from forums registartion that shows me the password I just registered with.

The reasons why this just plain sucks are obvious.

You should store passwords as MD5 or SHA1 hashes. There's no need for you to know my plain text password.

I recommend ditching PHPBB forums all together, as they are VERY bad with security. SMF (Simple Machines Forums) is a much better free solution and looks better. It also has simple conversion routines for converting from phpBB seamlessly (including user accounts).

Rather disappointed by this.

WRT DiffMerge Options

Post by jeffhostetler » Fri Apr 04, 2008 1:49 pm

WRT DiffMerge Options:
In addition to ALT+Up and friends, we have F7/F8 and Shift+F7/F8.
I'll add a feature request for customizable key bindings.

non-recursive folder diff is a frequently requested feature.
i'll add your vote.

you can exclude folders/files, see the Folder Filters page of the
Options dialog. you can include ".svn" in the list of folders and
it will exclude the entire sub-tree under it (just like we do for "bin"
and "obj").

hope this helps,
jeff

I've added your vote.

BTW, if you're on a Mac, you can use keyboard shortcuts in the system preferences
to achieve some of what you want. See the last paragraph in
