Vault 4.1 -> VB6 IDE Integration

Post by rgrayson » Mon Mar 03, 2008 2:11 pm

Should Vault 4.1 be able to integrate with Visual Basic 6.0 SP6 Enterprise?

I have VB6 Enterprise installed, and Vault 4.1 and both work fine independantly. Currently VB6 has source-safe as it's source control.

I wish to switch this to use vault, but I see no option in "Tools->Options->General" to do this?

Any ideas?

Thanks

In Tools->Options->General, you are going to set Vault as your default SCC provider.

Are you importing your history from VSS or starting fresh with adding just the solutions to Vault with no history? If you performed a VSS import, then you will want to use this article for the switch: Importing a solution or project that uses IDE Integration

If you aren't importing, then just open the solution, unbind it from SOS, save it that way, then perform an Add to Source Control and place it in Vault.

Hi Beth,

The project I'm working on is already in Vault and I have been working through the Vault Client by checking it out from there, and then loading the project normally in VB6

I now wish to be able to check in/out from withing the VB6 IDE, however there is no option in "Tools->Options->General" to specify the default SCC provider.

I have tried re-installing vault and this has not fixed the problem.

Thanks,
Robin.

I don't know that Vault 4.1 has been tested with VB6, but it *should* still work.

If you open the GUI client and go to Tools->Options->General there should be a check box there to Make Vault Your Default SCC provider. If you check that box then relaunch VB6 does VB6 use Vault instead of VSS?

That checkbox does not exist - there is no mention of Vault in Tools->Options->General

Wierd, that option does exists in my 4.1 Vault Client (see attachment). What OS are you on? Note that this option is in Vault, not VB6.

Ahh ... sorry - I was looking in:

VB6->Tools->Options->General, not
Vault->Tools->Options-General.

Working now!

Thanks all
