I have installed Fortress on a machine with 1 GB of RAM. Will this situation generate the message:

I hadn't heard of that. I would suspect a permissions issue.
Just for a test, you could open up your permissions to the disk to everyone and have it inheirited and see if IIS would start then. Of course, only do that one if you don't have anything important there yet, and don't leave it open like that. It's just to see if IIS would start then.

giving access to the disk to everyone didn't work.
Beth,
I gave that a try and it still won't start. I am going to try another re-install of Fortress. It seems like the .net stuff is in the right place and I ran the utility to ensure that the .net links were set up properly.
Maybe a re-install will help. Worth a try in any case. It says it can't find a procedure. I am trying to find where the name of the procedure is as well.

I have both v1.1.4322 and v2.0.50727.
I am not sure anymore about the order. I just uninstalled Fortress and the IIS defalt web site still wont' start. I think I will take this all back to ground zero. De-install .Net and de-install IIS.
Then Install IIS.
Install .net 2
Install Fortress
Then see what happens.

Well. I have uninstalled and re-installed everything and am now down to the following error message when it tries to first open a browser page:
Server Error in '/VaultService' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Failed to access IIS metabase.
The process account used to run ASP.NET must have read access to the IIS metabase (e.g. IIS://servername/W3SVC). For information on modifying metabase permissions, please see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=267904.
I tried adding in IDs using the information contained in the MS article references above.
When I install Fortress I use the machine login phx88090\aspnet. If I add aspnet read access, then I get a logon prompt when trying to access the page.
IIS kept on running though. I just can't get into Fortress.
