Can a project created in VSS successfully run in SOS

Hello. I have a VS2005 solution in my VSS. Now we've got a remote developer and want to know if we can just install SOS server and SOS Client for remote developer and run with VSS in our office?
Is there a way to work with VSS locally while remote developers work with SOS? Or we all should use SOS clients?

It is possible to mix and match. That shouldn't pose a problem at all.
