sourcesafe for machines on the LAN, sourceoffsite for others

i am assuming that it is ok for clients on the same LAN as my sourcesafe database to connect and use the traditional sourcesafe client, while remote machines connect to the same sourcesafe database using sourceoffsite?

am i just asking for trouble with this setup? i know you recommend against switching back and forth between VSS and SOS on the same machine, but is it ok for different machines to use different clients?

It is okay for LAN users to use VSS and remote users to use SourceOffSite. The only time this can be a problem is if they are all working on the same solution and want to use both products integrated into Visual Studio. If that's the case, then you want to be sure to use the latest version of both products, VSS 6.0d and SOS 4.0.1.
