Vault 4.0.2 Disappointment with Pending Checkins

Post by msauper » Thu Jul 19, 2007 12:16 pm

I upgraded a solution of ours to the new VS2005 source code control interface and was disappointed to see the new "Vault Pending Checkins" window that replace the old "Pending Checkins" window.

The new window displays ALL of the checkouts I have done, not just those for the current solution. In addition, where the old window displayed the checkouts in a nice, terse, tree-view heirarchy that matched the solution structure, the new window displays a list-view style with a lot of "noise" (i.e. repository paths and disk file paths where the leading characters are all that you see because the columns are too narrow).

After using the prior window, I find the new window to be very undesirable. Since I was not able to figure out whether the old dialog is still available, I changed the solution back to using the vs2003 compatable interface.

One of the reasons I pushed our company to move to the 4.0 version was because I understood that the new vs2005 sccs interface is much superior to the vs2003 compatable interface. Now I do not think that we will be able to take advantage of the improvements.

Best regards,

Metro.

Metro,

You're right. The new VS 2005 client doesn't have the tree view, because Visual Studio provided the tree view. We haven't yet reproduced that view in our 2005 client, but we hope to add it in the future. We appreciate your patience.
