VS.Net 2005 IDE and the Vault and VSS

Post by blaze6947 » Thu Jul 12, 2007 2:54 pm

Does VSS need to be unistalled from a developers machine in order for source control to go to the Vault thru VS.net 2005 IDE after installing the Vault client?
Vault version is 4.02

I can't get the Vault to work with Visua Studio 2005 even after uninstalling the Vault and VSS on this PC then reinstalling the vault.
Any ideas? Should I try uninstalling the vault and Visual Studio 2005 then reinstalling?

VSS should not need to be uninstalled. Which IDE client are you trying to get to work, the 2003 Compatible, or the new 2005 client?

I don't understand your question? I installed the Vault 4.02 client.

There are two different Visual Studio client which should appear when you go to Tools->Options->Source Control in Visual Studio 2005, one labeled 2003 Compatible and one labeled 2005. Do you see either of these on the problem computer? Also, what OS are you installing on?

Nothing was checked, so I checked 2005. IS that what we should be using? OS = XP Pro

Yes, that is the one that you should be using. For a quick introduction, read the Getting Started guide at: http://www.sourcegear.com/vault/support ... index.html
