Help- Can't Check In

Post by tak315 » Thu Jul 12, 2007 1:56 pm

I cannot check a file back in once it's modified. It tells me that the operation has failed and to look at the messages for more information. There is no information in the messages pane. Help! :( [/b]

Is this a new problem? Were you able to check in files before? Can other users check in files?

What version of Vault server and client are you using?

Are you using the Vault GUI client, or are you checking in files through Visual Studio?

Linda,

This happened with the old client, and the new client...we are using 4.0.2 This is through the client and not though VS. This only started to happen to the user when she was offsite. On the local network she didn't experience any difficulties. Thank you for your quick response! :D

Something may be blocking the uploading of files. Can the user add files?

Is the user going through a firewall, proxy, or other device that might be blocking files?

Linda,

I know that she can download files (check out). She can check the files back in as long as she hasn't performed any modifications. Once the changes have been made, she is not allowed to check the item back in.

Thanks,
Tim

The default behavior in Vault is to undo a checkout if no modifications have been made to a file. So nothing gets uploaded.

Can the user add files to the repository?
If not, is there an error message?

Is there a firewall or proxy between the client and server?

Is there any error in the Vault server log, sgvault.log in
%windir%\temp\sgvault when the user tries to checkin or add a file? Or does the server log not show the upload attempt at all?

You can also turn on client-side logging to see if that gives us additional information:
To enable client-side logging in the GUI Client for Vault 3.1.8 and later, open the Vault GUI Client and hold down the following keys on your keyboard:

Control Alt Shift F12

The log will be created in your user's temp directory, %temp%. Be default, all classes will be logged.
