"Unable to connect to server" - SOS 3.5.3

Post by jgordon » Wed Apr 28, 2004 3:44 pm

I have client 3.5.3 and I am suddenly getting the "Unable to Connect to Server" message. I can connect to the server through My Network Places as well as http ( I get the "200" response).

Why is SOS itself not connecting to the server? We have no firewall and no other programs running.

This problem just started today and I cannot figure out what's going on... it's almost acting like there isn't a network connection but that is not the case.

What should I do????

If the SOS Server service is restarted, can you connect? Sometimes the SourceSafe Automation component crashes, which causes the SOS Server to hang.

We've also had reports that certain types of network cards or dual network cards on the SOS Server may cause machine crashes or network disconnects when SOS Clients connect to the SOS Server.

If you continue to experience difficulty, try to determine what may have changed with SOS, VSS or your network configuration.

There may be some clues in the server log file. Enable verbose logging in the SOS 3.5.3 server manager under the Debug tab, restart the SOS Server. Try to reproduce the problem, then send me a copy of the log.txt file in the SOS Server directory.
