I ran into some problems when installing Fortress.
I have both sgdragnet and sgvault DB in MS SQL Server 2005 Express.
This is on an XP Pro machine. Vault or Dragnet server has not been installed on this machine before. Vault 3.5 Client is installed.
Below is the text in Fortress Server Configuration dialog.
Code: Select all
OK
Configuring your new Fortress Installation
Checking for IIS Version...Requesting Fortress Admin user password...OK
Connecting to the SQL Server...OK
Verifying the SQL Server requirements...OK
Checking for an existing databases...Found.
Asking for database's fate...Keep existing.
Upgrading the existing Fortress database...
This may take a long time. Do NOT stop this process!
Checking the installed database version...OK
Creating SourceGear Fortress Master database schema...OK
Grant database access to ARATHORN\ASPNET...OK
Upgrading SourceGear Vault database schema...OK
Upgrading SourceGear Dragnet database schema...Incorrect syntax near 'Importing'.
Incorrect syntax near ')'.
Cannot drop the table '#tmpErrors', because it does not exist or you do not have permission.
The database update failed
Fortress Setup is exiting due to a failure or cancellation. Error Code = -1280

Fortress can't be installed on the same machine as Vault and Dragnet currently.

But I don't have Vault or Dragnet installed.
Just the databases which I hoped would be upgraded.
To me it looks like it is the Dragnet to Fortress upgrade that failed due to a syntax error in the upgrade script.
Shouldn't it be possible to upgrade the Dragnet database to Fortress?
This is from your Fortress 1.0 Preview instructions.
You may convert a copy of your Vault or Dragnet databases if you wish to test with realistic data, but you should maintain your previous version of Vault on its own server.

Sorry, misunderstood what you meant. Yes, you can upgrade.
Some things to check:
Both Vault and Dragnet were on the same instance of your SQL server?
What version of Dragnet was in previously?

Can you go ahead and send us your fortress_install.log file located in your temp (%temp%) directory? That can go to support at sourcegear.com (attn: Beth).
And are you using Windows or SQL authentication to connect to your database?

Yes they are on the same SQL Server.
What version of Dragnet was in previously?
Dragnet version 1.0.7.1379
Vault version 3.5.1 (4786)
Can you go ahead and send us your fortress_install.log file
It's in the mail.

Are you snail mailing that or emailing? I didn't get the logs. Can you try again? If that doesn't work, then just send it to me directly at beth at sourcegear.com. Zipped up would be wonderful as well.

As a follow up here. What has been found at this point is that the user's SQL server is running under a different collation than the Dragnet and Vault database has. This is similar to this forum post:
