Labels not imported

We are in the process of evaulating Vault - and have had a problem while attempting to import a portion of our VSS tree.

After importing for about 3 days, the Vault SourceSafe Import Tool said: The import is complete. There were 168 errors, which are described in the final report below.

Label Verification:  The label AFRAS ... was not imported because of the VSS error "Invalid DOS path: C:\DOCUME~1\nevillev.PTM\LOCALS~1\Temp\VSSLABELS\AFRAS \SIWeb"
Label Verification:  The label AFRWS 3.0.2327.0 was not imported because of the VSS error "Version not found"
Label Verification:  The label AFRWS 3.0.2336.0 was not imported because of the VSS error "An item with the name $/SIWeb/AFRWSImage/bin already exists"
Label Verification:  The label AFRAS 2.5.2546.0 was not imported because of the VSS error "An item with the name $/SIWeb/AFRWSImage/bin already exists"

The labels referred to are really important; and I can't use the imported VSS database without them.

Additional information:

• I had previously exported this part of VSS into it's own VSS database, using the VSS export/import tool. It looks ok when I look at it there.
  I did this using Vault v 2.0.1.2137 in conjunction with VSS 6.0c plus patch (as suggested in this forum).
  Many labels were imported - they didn't all fail.
  The file it refers to in the first line seems ok to me.

I'd appreciate any suggestions as to how I can get this to import correctly.

The first place to investigate is your import log, which should be located in the c:\program files\Sourcegear\SourceSafe Import Tool

You might be able to find more detailed error messages there. For the "An item with the name NAME already exists" errors, can you fetch them to disk using the VSS Explorer?

The "Invalid DOS path:" error is definitely the import tool's fault and if this labe is important to you, I can send you a temporary import tool with the fix.
