Error "Response for no message sent" while checkin
Hi,
I am using SOS Proffessional edition - Export Version 2.02. While checking-out a file, I face no problems. But when I click on "Show Differences", it shows "Operation Failed <FileName>" as error message in the log pane at the bottom.
Also, when I check-in a file, it shows the same error in the log pane and a message box pops-up repeatedly showing "Response for no message sent", unitl we kill the application using Task Manager.
I am getting this problem for a week now, please help me out of it.
Waiting for a reply.

We'll have to do some troubleshooting to determine where the problem is.
Are there other SOS users? Are they having the same problem?
Is there any error in the status pane when you try to check out a file?
Check the connection to the SOS Server:
-- can you get files into an empty working directory?
-- can you add a file to the database?
Can you connect to our demo server and check out files? It's sos.sourceoffsite.com, port 8888. Username daffy password duck

Hi Linda,
Thanks so much for your reply. Here is what I can tell you:
There are other SoS users, but they are all using Windows clients. I am the first to attempt connecting to the repository with the Mac client. No-one has experienced the problems I am having.
I was able to connect to your demo server and check out files. I added a new project called "Mac Test" without incident. When I added "index.html" to that project, a window popped up that read:
"Alert
Response for no message sent!
[OK]"
Clicking "OK" causes the window to disappear, and an identical window to appear in its place. Clicking "OK" 10-15 times finally dismissed it.
When I got latest version on my newly added file, the alert returned, and I got the "The server received an unrecognized message" error in the status pane.
A second attempt got a local copy of the file, but it was completely blank, missing all of the code that was in the original file that I added.
At that point, I checked out my file with no errors. The checked out file was still blank, so I re-added my code and attempted to check it back in. That caused the "Response for no message sent!" alert to return. Clicking "OK" 26 times caused it to go away.
I got latest version again, and the alert reappeared, along with "This server received an unrecognized message" in the status pane. Clicking "OK" once dismissed the alert.
I then exited the application.

It's possible that something is interfering with or garbling the communication between client and server and the server is getting an "unrecognized message."
When did you log into our demo server? I'd like to check the log files for any errors during your session.

Whatever is coming from your client is something the server doesn't understand. I'll have to do some more investigation on what might be causing this.

Are you using the correct Mac 4.2 client? We have a client for PowerPC and a different client for Intel Mac.
http://www.sourcegear.com/sos/downloads.html
If you *are* using the correct client, then we're back to figuring out what's interfering with the messages.
In you SOS client under Tools->Options->General, are you using compression for data transfers? If so, turn this off. If not, turn it on.
Are you going through a proxy?

Response to no message sent FIXED (PowerPC)
There was a bad build of the PowerPC version of SourceOffSite for PowerPC Macs. This has been corrected and works perfectly for me!
Thanks for the quick fix SourceGear!

P.S. Your filesizes are off on the download page. It says 2.4 MB but it's really 24 MB.
