Unable to connect to http://ibsech/VaultService

Post by sswanson » Mon Jan 08, 2007 9:08 am

Hi, we've been using Vault for about two months now and everything has been working fine. Everything was working fine when we left on Friday, but when we got in on Monday no one is able to connect to the server and we recieve this error message:

Unable to connect to http://localhost/VaultService. No server was found at the specified URL. Please verify your network settings using the Options dialog under the Tools menu in the Vault GUI Client. Web Exception: Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'.
The request failed with the error message:
--
<html><head><title>Error</title></head><body>The data is invalid.
</body></html>
--.

I've been researching in the forum but this error message is a bit different from the others provided. Several people log into the server that it is running on and use the client through their individual accounts. The server is running WindowsXP and we're running Microsoft SQL 2000.

Also I've tried loading:
http://VAULTSERVER/VaultService/serverInstall.html and
http://VAULTSERVER/VaultService/VaultService.asmx.
Neither of them load. We're currently checking out port settings and what may have changed over the weekend to cause this, but any light you can shed or instructions will help us narrow down the problem more quickly.

Currently we can't access any files for a slightly time sensitive project so your help will be greatly appreciated.

Looks like something happened to IIS over the weekend.

Here are a couple of postings from users of different apps, but with a similar error. They may provide some clues as to what happened.

Thank you very much for your quick response. It looks like the culprit was our installation of ActivePerl on Friday night. Everythings working great again. Thank you very much!
