Lightweight labelling from the command line

Is there a way to do lightweight labels (i.e., not visible in the folder view of the UI) from the command line or API in version 1.2.3?

Ah, nevermind. I figured out you get the same behavior if you just turn off "Display Virtual Labels" in the options dialog.
