We are currently using SOS v4.0.2 (both client and server), on a Win2k SP4 server running VSS 6.0d, with Win XP SP2 clients. We develop mostly VS 8 (2005) solutions, but still have some VS 6 legacy projects.
I am about to move the back end to a new Windows 2003 Server. I figured I'd update SOS to the current release (v4.2 for both server and client), and I was wondering what version of VSS would be best to install on the new server. I am assuming that VSS 6.0d is prefered (after Vault, of course )
Just checking ... any gottchas or warnings would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
best version of VSS to use on Win 2003 Server

There's no perfect version of VSS for SourceOffSite.
VSS 6.0d is fine, however if the automatioin component version ends in 98.48, then you need to make a change to the registry to avoid a concurrency crash:

Note: later versions of 6.0d fixed the concurrency issue.
