ASPX Files Show Merged in Merge Tools, But Later ... Not So

System Configuration: Vault 3.1.8, Visual Studio 2003 (VB.NET), Windows Server 2003 (servers and workstations)

We have seen this several times:
In ASP.NET, some ASPX files (not all) will not carry changes over (when others get the latest version) even though the merge tools show all is well. What might cause this? This doesn't seem to happen on pure code files.

After reading through your posts it appears to me that there may be something being done to the cached files or something outside of the integration between Vault and VS. In one post you said:

I know that if one copies over files from a physical backup

and copying over files would lead to Vault seeing that something is different about the files. Once integrated with IDE, the files should only be dealt with through the IDE.

I believe Linda spoke with you on the phone and gave some suggestions.

All these posts appear to be related. Could you respond to our follow-up questions?
