Problems with check in

Post by jon@virtualchemistry.com » Mon Apr 12, 2004 5:37 pm

I was attempting to check in a file to a new Vault installation (copied from SourceSafe). I already had a directory structure extracted and Vault didn't know my local version #, etc. I had already modified a file and then checked it out and specified the do not overwrite option. When I clicked the check in box, nothing happened. I could only get a checkin to succeed if I did an undo checkout, copied my changes, checked out with an overwrite and then modified the file.

Subsequently (when it knew the local version number) the checkin worked fine but it would be nice if it worked in the original version also.

Thanks

If Vault didn't download the file via a Get Latest operation, its status is Unknown, and Vault can't check it in. We plan to do a better job of identifying truly unknown files in the future (since probably the files you had on disk matched the latest versions in Vault), but for now, you have to do a Get on any Unknown file before Vault can do anything with it.
