Install Problem, VS.NET 2003 Not Integrating properly

Post by Jim Grinsfelder » Mon Apr 12, 2004 11:47 am

I can't figure out how to get Vault working with Visual Studio 2003. I had SourceSafe working and after purchasing and installing Vault Server (which seems ok), I installed Vault Client on my development machine.

I expected to see it in the VS.NET 2003 IDE on the menus and in the options dialog, but I'm not seeing it.

What did I screw up?

Check the setting in the Vault GUI Client under Tools->Options->General->Make Vault your SCC provider.

Also, check to see what is configured in the Registry under this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider

Thanks...here's more info.

I installed originally with "Make Vault your SCC Provider" unchecked. Then I tried to turn it on. Didn't work. I uninstalled the vault client, rebooted and reinstalled the vault client with the Make Vault your SCC Provider" checked the second time. After reading your replay, I checked the registry. The keys were in the registry, but it was set to use VSS, not Vault. I changed them manually and all seems to be working now.
