Problems with 4.0

Post by cab124 » Thu Mar 18, 2004 3:53 pm

Since I upgraded to SOS 4.0, I have observed the following issues:

1. Though I have two serial numbers which I entered into the SOS Server Manager, the Server manager only lists a single serial number on the Serial Numbers tab. The System Info tab shows "Licenses Configured: 2 permanent licenses." Also, the prp file lists 2 serial numbers.

2. The log file continues to accumulate exceptions, as listed below. These exceptions were generated while loading a solution from within VS 2003 and checking out a file:

3/18/2004 4:28:07 PM - Waiting for a connection....secure = True
3/18/2004 4:28:07 PM - Waiting for a connection....secure = False
3/18/2004 4:31:44 PM - Connection accepted from 65.25.136.118:2427, session id is 1.
3/18/2004 4:32:54 PM - 1: Exception: Index was outside the bounds of the array.
3/18/2004 4:33:00 PM - Connection accepted from 65.25.136.118:2440, session id is 2.

3/18/2004 4:35:01 PM - Connection accepted from 65.25.136.118:2464, session id is 5.
3/18/2004 4:38:18 PM - 5: Exception: Index was outside the bounds of the array.
3/18/2004 4:38:33 PM - Connection accepted from 65.25.136.118:2501, session id is 6.
3/18/2004 4:38:37 PM - 6: Exception: Index was outside the bounds of the array.
3/18/2004 4:38:37 PM - Connection accepted from 65.25.136.118:2502, session id is 7.

3. It seems that if more than one user attempts to use SOS at the same time, the server stops responding. Even using the SOS client, we are not able to get a response from the server unless we stop and restart the server service.

SOS 3.5.3 worked very well on our server (excpet for one situation).

Thanks for any input!

Can you email me your sossvr.prp file?

We've had a couple of similiar reports of the errors you are seeing with the server and multiple connections, and in both cases, the server machine had multiple network cards. Does your server had 2 NICs?

When more than one user connects, do the connections drop or does the server just hang?

Are you using VSS 6.0d? If so, then you should also see the following note:

What about 2 NIC

Is there a link to resolve the problem with 2 NIC's.

I just got this today and did the fix for threading.. Might as well look into the multiple NIC issue while I'm at it..

When there are multiple network cards, you can configure which IP address the SOS Server binds to by configuring the name and IP address of the server machine in the Hosts section of the Optional tab of the SOS Server mananger.

In all other cases, the SOS Server will automatically bind itself to the network.
