Deleting files from within VS2005

Post by tomt84 » Mon Mar 20, 2006 1:44 pm

Hi there

We have two developers working with Vault and VS2005.

Let's say dev A deletes a file from source control from with the IDE that dev B has previously worked on, and dev B has a local copy of it.

Then when dev B logs on to vault through VS and opens the project, the names of the files that dev A deleted appear immediately in dev B's pending checkins window.

I suppose dev B's machine has spotted these files in the local working copy of the project, seen that they aren't in Vault, and hence tries to add them.

Any workaround? This can get really inconvenient and confusing.

All the best
Tom

Is this the same problem you are experiencing:

If so, we'll try to reproduce this here and see if there's a fix or workaround.

Thanks for your quick reply.

That's precisely our problem. Let me know if you want us to test anything, or if you want access to our Vault service to play with our specific data.

all the best

We were able to reproduce this here -- the behavior is still the same. It's primarily a VS 2005 issue (see more in the link I posted). But we'll log it as a bug and see if there's anything we can do about it in Vault.
