Unable to connect to Service

Hello there,
we are searching some new Version Control tool that needs to integrate with Visual Studio so we can trash that creepy SourceSafe. My head of division told me to search and evaluate some tools so i found Vault and want to try it but i can't get it running. Always getting the same exception:
Unable to connect to server http://localhost/VaultService. No server was found a the specified URL.
I'am trying on a Win XP machine with MSDE 2000. Vault Version is 2.01. The installation works fine and finishes with setup complete. I've also tried to open the .asmx files with IE, doesn't work. So i checked the config files but can't figure out something unusal.
Do i need a server OS or what's the problem?

When you connect using IE to the .asmx page, do you get a specific error message?

I've figured out what the problem was. For some reason the default web site was shut down after the installation of vault so no single service was available.
